This would be a rare combination and very atypical action, but...
Is the board such that he could hold AJs with the flush draw? |

I think his flop action really discounts AJ, and there's obv only 1 combo of AJs that could turn a flush draw (maybe zero depending on board as you mentioned)
I like calling down. No need to do anything fancy like BFing river. It's usually gonna get bet whether he's ahead or not. |

i'd call down and not be too happy about it [/ QUOTE ] I know what you mean, but I think it's wrong still. I try to always be happy and confident in making what I think are +ev calldowns. "payoff with confidence." It's better for your mental state. P.S. aiya! |

[/ QUOTE ] haha, i definitely didn't mean to imply call down while being grumpy and upset. i just was trying to say i think we lose this hand most of the time. i guess i should have said "i'd call down being happy with the way i played the hand win or lose, but i'm not expecting to win very often." |

[ QUOTE ] id 3 bet. from your description it looks like no one missed a beat, no awkward pause, indicative sometimes of sb/button both holding overpairs (putting sb solely on qq-kk and btn on aa) [/ QUOTE ] reread the hand, button 3-bet. also, how does no awkward pause indicate an overpair but not possibly JJ? actually, how does no awkward pause indicate anything? [ QUOTE ] if they btn 4bets here id still bet/fold river because the line you took on flop looks extremely weak. [/ QUOTE ] justin just calls on the flop 3 different times then springs to life on the turn by c/r'ing the field and you think his hand looks weak? [/ QUOTE ] i reread his original post I've only been in the game a couple orbits, but button is a young guy who's been playing tight, and SB is a tight asian guy. This is the reason why I thought his range was much smaller than A-Js+. As the hand folded out, are most in agreement the only hand he can have logically with the preflop play is JJ, correct? So we hold the relative 2nd nuts? I change my river line to c/c but still think 3-bet/call turn then c/c river or 3-bet turn bet river is most optimal. But lot of people have way more experience than me here so I'd take their advice over mine. Just my thoughts. Can we have results? |

[/ QUOTE ] the reason i told you to reread the hand is because you're reading the action wrong. justin check-raised the turn and button 3-bet him. therefore, justin can't 3-bet the turn. |

Your line looks so strong Justin, I can't think you are ahead often when he 3 balls the turn. I don't think I can find a fold in a pot this big but putting in any more action against a "young guy playing tight" has to be a mistake. Hopefully he got a little jiggy preflop with 55 but I am expecting to see JJ.

So nobody wants to talk about the flop? Justin called 3 times on one street, and had good opportunities to raise each time. I'm not sure which line is correct, but I'd like to hear more reasoning.
