Re: Hand from Mandalay Bay (not mine)
3 betting all in on the flop probably is the most common play, but I don't think it's terribly uncommon to see a check call. It you get raised on a flop like this with 4 limpers, your 3 bet is getting called ~ 90% of the time. You would have little fold equity and your overs most likely aren't live.

Sheets btw if you didn't notice we now have a highstakes MTT stratagy forum that this post would be better suited for as many of our best posters have been really active again mostly there.

Re: Hand from Mandalay Bay (not mine)
I think a flush is unlikely - what suited hands would raise preflop in that spot? AKs maybe but overpair is more likely. I think you bet the turn and call a raise (he could c/r all in with an overpair conatining a diamond). As played call the river.

Re: Hand from Mandalay Bay (not mine)
Is he really 3 betting all-in with a big draw 100% of the time here (on the flop)? He has at least 20 big blinds, I think a check call is pretty common too.
I too like the check on the turn as getting CR here would suck. But by checking the turn, I think we have to call his river bet. I have never played with him, so I don't know his range, but there are enough overpairs here that a 2.5:1 call seems profitable. I expect at least 1/2 the time we see an overpair he was value betting. |
