Re: Start 3/6 - AJs in BB from hand swap
The preflop call is a bit iffy. I normally raise there unless I'm up against a very conservative player.
I hate the flop play. Against a chronic bluffer, it's a reasonable move. But generally, I check/call the flop. I also definitely bet on that turn and then probably bet/call the river. |

Raising is bad vs. a chronic bluffer, because you allow him to stop bluffing. Also, I don't like donking the turn and would rather play WA/WB for at least the turn. IMO, the turn is between check/calling and check/raising. |

Re: Start 3/6 - AJs in BB from hand swap
FWIW, villain had KK and my swap buddy scooped a nice pot.
Any thoughts on villain's play? |

*Grunch*
pf: I think a standard tag opens with alot you crush here. Threebet seems auto. flop: I think a checkraise is fine here, getting threebet sucks, and he probably has a pocket pair or or something like AT, KT TJs. Turn: This is one of the cards you like to see, I think a check-call is ok (let him bet his pairs), planning to checkraise the river. River: I think you have to checkraise here. You are beating alot of his holdings. |

Re: Start 3/6 - AJs in BB from hand swap
[ QUOTE ]
Im the swap partner in this hand. My plan was to c/r almost any flop and then fire turn. I think the best line as played is c/c turn and c/r river when we improve otherwise c/c river [/ QUOTE ] With hands as strong as AJs against a stealer, i would def reraise PF. Also, i don't like having a "plan." If you start getting into a routine, other players will figure it out and play harder against you. I know lots of players that i immediately recognize who will reraise my steal attempt but fold if I 3 bet. For this reason I don't think you should use a "plan." IMO, its better to play the opponent/hand, and not go with a plan. That said, I reraise PF here. I bet out flop on this board and call if raised. I def C/R the turn and bet out the river. This is probably over aggressive but it will give you a better indication of when to slow down as opposed to playing from behind as you must when you C/C. |
