It's the curse of Denkinger. They're clearly being punished by the baseball gods for that gift call they got in game 6. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah but lets remember there was only one out when the winning run scored. Everything else happens the same Royals still tie. Now Jack Clark catches Steve Balboni's popup, or Darrel Porter doesn't give up the passed ball... You can't blame it all on Denkinger. And there was a BS trap call earlier in the series that won the Cardinals the second game I believe. I have the last inning of game 6 saved on my Tivo since 2004. I watch when I want to make myself happy - greatest sports moment of my life. The opposite of the Dave Szott holding penalty for the Chiefs against the Dolphins in the 90 playoffs. As far as the Royals going .500, eh, there's always hope, that's what April is for. Remember just three years ago they were in first by 7.5 games at the All-star break. No one expected that. I cling to it. |

The Royals got the missing piece, in his return to the AL Central. He's bringing some serious glove, and let's face it, the guy is just good for any team...
Its a shame he's not wearing the right uniform this year, but it seemed to work out OK for Boston. |

[ QUOTE ]
This year they might not lose 100. then again I've been a Royals fan all my life and since 1995 I've been one of the guys that always looked on their bright side. But over the last two seasons, even I have lost my faith. Then again they did pick up some solid veterans so maybe a wild card is possible. [/ QUOTE ] KC crow, Two of my college roommates were sports marketing majors at KU - one ridiculously obsessed with the KC Royals. He would spend untold hours this time of year - and probabaly is right now, re: 2006 season - analyzing acquisitions and potential lineups and pitching rotations. There were two constants through all of this: 1) He was always excited about our prospects for the upcoming season, always thinking we had "a real shot this year." "Come on, man, you should be excited!" he used to say to me. And 2) The Royals would always disappoint. Your post reminds me of him, and the Royals' 2006 season will surely remind me of the others. Fifield Go 'Hawks, though; are you a fan? |
