Re: BCS Rankings.
[ QUOTE ]
Does this work in the NFL too? [/ QUOTE ] It works pretty well after you get enough games. [ QUOTE ] SF > Rams > Denver ? [/ QUOTE ] This is known as a "beatpath." However: Denver > Kansas City > San Francisco Here's the full, uniterrupted beatpath: CHI > STL > DEN > NE > NYJ > BUF > MIA A longer one is: CHI > MIN > CAR > BAL > SD > PIT > KC > ARI > SF > OAK These things will break down as the year goes on. |

Re: BCS Rankings.
I just think this is the silliest argument for who is better ever. It breaks down so quickly in so many cases it's not funny. Even the bad ESPN/Foxsports/etc. gage the teams better than most of these number based and beatpath based theories.

LOL, Tennessee stomps Cal and Cal is still ranked higher...BCS is a worthless piece of [censored]. [/ QUOTE ] Just noticed something interesting about Tenn and Florida. Tennessee lost to Florida. Yet both human polls rank Tenn ahead of Florida. (the computers have Florida significantly ahead of Tenn: 4 versus 12, which is why Florida's BCS ranking is ahead of Tenn). |

Notre Dame bias. Notre Dame is nowhere near as good as Cal or Texas are. [/ QUOTE ] Notre dame would beat cal by 2 touchdowns on a neutral field, IMO |

ROFLMAO. Please. ND? I bet they'd beat OSU by 5 TDs at home to. Go back, watch the ND-Mich tapes and see how good ND really is. Go watch the MSU game, they aren't that good.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think they're great, but they're not that bad either. It's just hard to gauge given they play some great teams, some very bad ones, and a few on the cusp of the top 25. I wish there were some 11-25 matchups so it'd be easier to place them (and increase the P of them losing more, of course). Although I will concede that the GTech win is looking better and better all the time. And contrary to my earlier assertions, PSU is not bad. They're still not very good, but whatever, a blowout win is pretty good against them. So they're maybe a 10-12 team, which I guess is actually pretty good. Stupid retractions. |

Re: BCS Rankings.
I'm not saying Cal would beat them but I guess that's an ultra sarcastic statement. I just don't think Cal would lose by 2 Tds right now to ND because Cal's O is looking really good and ND doesn't play a SPIT of D so far this year.

[ QUOTE ] Notre Dame is higher in the computers than they are in the polls. Nice try, though [/ QUOTE ] We need new computers then. They lost by almost 4 TD's at home. They needed a miracle to beat a crappy MSU team. How they are ranked by anybody, computer or human, above Cal or Tennessee is ridiculous. [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately the computers can't look at it as a 4 TD loss. Otherwise, they would have ND ranked as 37th. |

Re: BCS Rankings.
[ QUOTE ]
unless something catastrophic happens, winner of UM/OSU goes to national championship. Really sucks to figure out the second spot though, b/c no deserving teams at the moment. Hopefully time will clear things up and shake out a clear number two...yeah, that probably won't happen, but it would make things easier [/ QUOTE ] |
