Miles, if you are a hops lover, I hope you've tried Bell's Porter. Their Two-Hearted (pale) Ale is a hops-orgy, but might overdo it a bit. The Porter is heavy on the hops, but a darker roasted flavor, much stouter (stoutier?) than a pale ale. MMMmmmmm....
Speaking of stouts, here's a tip from Bobby: bowl of vanilla ice cream + pint of Guinness (or your favorite stout). Just have a sip shortly after swallowing that first bite of ice cream and then a bite of ice cream before the aftertaste of the stout leaves you. I know it sounds crazy, but its amazing. |

Smokey, Salty, Peaty (not for beginning scotch drinkers): Lagavulin, Laphroig. [/ QUOTE ] If you get a chance, you should try out Ardbeg. Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg are all next door to one another on Islay, so they share certain characteristics. Ardbeg is less sweet than Lagavulin, and a bit stronger and peatier than Laphroaig. Extremely powerful taste. It's great. |

Hey Bobbyshaftoe, you give up on your boy JPM? [/ QUOTE ] Never! I hope its not another CBS weekend. I can't stand Derek Daly. Oh [censored], I just looked. Its Monaco. That's gonna be CBS. Maybe McLaren will have gotten the pace up a bit and JPM can win it again like he did with Williams. |

I've been muting the commentary from CBS. Both those guys drive me crazy. Captain Obvious and his sidekick Dimwit...ugh. Give me David Hobbs and Steve Matchet(sp?) any day. |

Here in Oregon the state liqour control board has a 120% markup. Laphroig and Lagavulin range in the $65-$75 range. I highly recommend GlenRothes and Edradour, which I get here locally for $68 and $58 a bottle. I do know in Wisconsin GlenRothes run around $49 a bottle. Other states, I'm not so sure. |

Is that a markup solely on Scotch? Or is it all hard liquor?
Man, I guess the UK isn't so bad for whisky prices. I'm living in Norway right now, and pay roughly the same price as you have to in Oregon. I froogled Ardbeg. Prices there look pretty decent. |
