Re: Book recommendations - what are you reading?
[ QUOTE ]
Just Finished : Manhunt and Hagakure The first is an well written account of the events surrounding the assasination of Lincoln. Good history and exciting to read. The latter is the reflections of a "retired" warrior. Written as short snippets, easy to read. Interesting to see the musings of a soldier during a changing time in his life. Some of the 'philosophy' still applicable today. In the middle of Class 11 . Insiders look into the training of a CIA officer, and espionage in general, but a little flat writing style. On tap at home: God delusion, Meditations , and Prisoner's Dilemma [/ QUOTE ] You should watch the movie "Ghost Dog: the Way of the Samurai". It kind of sucks, but kind of has some awesome parts too, much like the Hagakure. The soundtrack in the movie is phenomenal as well. The CD of the soundtrack doesn't have all of the good songs on it for some reason. |

[ QUOTE ] Read Freakanomics and The Tipping Point earlier this month. [/ QUOTE ] Blink by Malcom Gladwell (author of The Tipping Point) is a good read as well. [/ QUOTE ] You can read Blink right now. Here is goes: your subconscious processes certain kinds of information in an accurate way which you are not consciously aware nor can you ever consciously access so sometimes, it really is as the Buddhists say: "First thought, best thought." Okay, next book? |

Re: Book recommendations - what are you reading?
I recently read all 9* of the "Jack Reacher" books by Lee Child. Quite entertaining.
*There are actually 10, but one isn't out in paperback yet |

Re: Book recommendations - what are you reading?
I've been "reading" books on CD now that I have a CD player in my car. "read" that Orchid book that they turned into the movie Adaptation by Susan Orleans; and before that I "read" Stephen King's Dreamcatcher.
Regular reading, just started Freakonomics. |
