That's one reason it has gone on so long. Doc is reminding a lot of us of how we might have been at one time. Even mere memories of it are still cringe-worthy.

Yep, some women like to string guys along to feed their ego. The OP has not figured this out yet.

One day I just told her that I didn't like the way she treated people in general and me in particular, and I didn't want to see or talk to her again. I went out and got laid by plenty of other girls, haven't exchanged a word with her since, and feel pretty happy about how everything worked out.

Exactly. I see a lot of my younger self in Doc, as much as it pains me to admit it.

I think we've all had that one relationshiop where in retrospect, you just think wtf was I doing in it. It's painful to listen to Doc because we all know what is coming, but he's so mixed up in the moment that he can't see it. He should stop trying to place bets with others and start saving that money for the therapy he surely is going to need.

Doc: The sooner you get her out of your life, the better off you are. Based on your descriptions, she is extremely manipulative, and is not someone you want a relationship with. Don't even tell us your goal is sex, your soldier doesn't even stand at attention when you need it to. You are in love with this girl. She honestly seems like a geniunely bad person. Move on. Do yourself a favor and take this advice.
