OK, makes more sense - still don't know what "CV" is.

Come on kids...it's CVIII = roman numerals for 108

[/ QUOTE ]

Crash victim would also make a lot of sense, considering the various crashes that we know about and probably some that we don't. Also, I don't know if this is typical of writing roman numerals, but it seems like the CV is too far separated from the III for it to be one whole number. I would expect if it was a number to look more like "CVIII" and not "CV III."

Anyone else notice that one hatch is scribbled out? I mean remember in the film they said something about there being an incident... maybe something happened there?

Awesome episode btw.

Hmmm...perhaps you're right with crash victim as there are other CV's on the map as well...maybe I fell into the obvious trap.

I don't think that's a number. As you say CIX is 109. 108 would be CVIII. Since C is bigger than V the V must be additive, no?

Does anyone feel like going back and watching the episode where they went back to where claire was captured? That is certainly one of the hatches. See if you see the symbol?

Also, the tailies place is probably one as well. Not sure what the symbol was on that.

An adjusted view...I'm sure someone with better photoshopping skills could clean it up some more (I just inverted it).

FWIW, I think there (at least) are two different handwriting styles (the printing and the more script-like) so it seems multiple people have created this map....

there are some equations/numbers near the 9 o'clock hatch (sqrt(16), etc.) and off to the right near the middle ... looks almost like I = <something> 6 * (10^6)*T

A couple things I noticed:
Squiggly lines that are lighter in the background…I don’t think there have been any rivers or anything on the island, maybe paths?

At the very bottom it says something like “Possible CVII ___ _____ accident” (not sure what those words are)

Could these roman numerals be marking events or something? Up higher on the right it says CV IV (I believe) with a question mark behind it. What thing85 said about crash victims seems like a possibility to me. Maybe it is marking where they crashed or were staying at some point?

Also, I agree that it says “ I AM here” as opposed to I was here

Great episode!
