When am I pot commited?
I have little MTT experience. Mainly play limit with a few tourneys here and there. Was wondering about this hand/situation.
Pacific Poker 40 man SNG. Third level, blinds 25/50. Average stack 1175. Stacks Hero(t740) Villian1 (t3120) Villian2 (t930) Hero is MP1 with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG calls t50, UTG +1 calls t50, Hero raises to t250, 5 folds. UTG raises all-in t3070, UTG +1 calls t870, Hero???? UTG has been at my table the whole tourney and I've seen him do this play twice with 99 and 77. Other villain just moved to my table three hands ago. I guess I would call against UTG hoping to be in a conflip but other Villians overcall threw me for a loop. Should mention next level coming in 2 mins, so paying t150 in blinds with 460 left in two hands. Call or fold? Thanks in advance. |

Re: When am I pot commited?
fold. You are dominated 90% of the time here. Also fold this right away dont put in that raise. You need to be open raising here with that stack.

Re: When am I pot commited?
Your hand sux, but with 14xbb in your stack and you committing 5 of them to a preflop raise and getting good pot odds to call, time to gambooool.

Re: When am I pot commited?
You are probably dead here. UTG wants you to call as he priced you in. UTG+1 looks more like a donk, but this is entirely too easy for him to get away from, so he also probably has a hand.
with your stack and AJo, I'd raise pf AI or limp, given the likelihood of more action behind, raise AI pf looks like a better line. |

Re: When am I pot commited?
At this point, you have to call since you invested 1/3rd of your stack and you are getting great odds, so just pray that he has < 10s and you are in a coin flip situation. I don't like the raise to 250, though. It pot commits you, and forces you to make this call, when you are most likely behind. I would actually call the t50 to see a cheap flop, push or fold. The blinds are kind of low for pushing, though, IMO. Calling may seem weak, but you just don't have enough chips to raise less than allin, and the blinds are too low that stealing them doesn't do too much for you either. I would rather see the flop, and then decide what to do.
