6 seconds for beginner minesweeper.

You might be good at minesweeper, but a score like that on beginner is just luck. Expert is the real arena.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pretty much any really impressive score on any level of minesweeper is just luck. The secret to getting a really fast time is to just play a ton of games until you get a really easy layout. Anyone who suggests otherwise is probably someone who just lucked into a 30 second time on expert and likes to think they're the greatest player ever. Average time over a large number of games would at least be a moderately interesting statistic.

[/ QUOTE ]

This isn't really true. For example, I have 1795 completed games on intermediate level (tracked using this clone). If I make a graph of my results they make a perfect bell curve with a slight tail at the top end. My best ever score is only a couple of standard deviations out, which is hardly a freak result.

Someone else playing 1800 games will have a similar curve shifted either to the left or to the right, and their best results will also be within a few standard deviations 99%+ of the time.

136xxx in tetris for gameboy

[/ QUOTE ]

I TOTALLY forgot Tetris.. I used to dominate hardcore in that. I'm positive I've beaten 136k. I didn't get the mini rocket at the end, but rather the humongous rocket. Level 20, 206 lines, FWIW. My strategy involves about 90% Tetris' up until about level 15 or so I think.

This is very impressive and would like to hear what turn of events happened to make this possible. I think my best is 1:06 or something. Also, if this game had online capabilities, it would be the best game ever w/o a doubt

I'm on level 9 on curveball. High score 32xxx, but I'm more interested in if anyone has beaten level 9.

I believe it takes 200k to get the big spaceship (or 150k). I'm pretty sure I've surpassed 180k and seen the big ship though. I also think I've hit 211+ lines.

I once beat Final Fantasy 3 with my most powerful character only having ~3500 HP my lowest had 900 HP's. I had to fight the final Kefka like 100 times though before I beat him. I shoudl also include I had beaten this game about 10 times before this one.

Tony Hawk 3 - 92,000,000 combo in Airport, 90,000,000 combo in Rio

Pretty much all my combos for THPS3 actually

[/ QUOTE ]

What do you think was easier, Rio or Airport? My personal record was about 15,000,000 in Rio. I was much better with the Manuals and Jumps than the Grinds (which is what you need to master in Airport).

[/ QUOTE ]

Rio was easier when I was first learning to get super high scores for me because there was less to [censored] around with, you just go in that circle.

Once you get to 40,000,000 in either level though you have to start adding tons of variations outside just going in a circle. Wallying off everything, doing specials off things you didn't even know were jumps, etc.

I know that when I checked back about a year after I quit, the top players were able to max out the combos meter on some levels without even bouncing.
