Kind of a tourney, but more of a cash freeze out...

Played in Manchester, NH last night (Charity tourneys). They have mini tourneys called a 60/50. $60 buyin $50 in chips. It is basically a Cash freeze out game played tourney style so it can be played NL. New Hampshire max charity betting is $2. So at the end of 1 hour of play, what ever chips you have in front of you, you win that amount.

Anyone play this style before?

That's not a tournament, a freezeout game, or anything of the sort. It's just paying $10 an hour to play 1/2. Stay away.... FAR away.

Whats the difference between playing foxwoods 1/2 NL game at $10/hour and this? You just can't rebuy at this 1. For a game that is live, legal, and fishy, why not? There is not much pressure to get into the top 3 for payout since at the end of the hour you cash in your chips?

For one, if the table is nice and soft, I'd hate to be told that after an hour, the game was over whether I was ready to quit or not, especially if I was card dead and had to fold for an hour straight (while paying an additional $10 to do so).

Also, are you saying that while it's NL, the max buy in is 25 big blinds?

Yes, you get 50 chips and blinds start at 1/2 and go up every half hour. They run these as rebuy tourneys with multitables as well in this format. Think of it like a tourney without the pressure of having to get in the top 3 or so for a payout.

With initial stacks that small, this might be the worst format for a game that I've ever heard of.

When I have my friends come over we play a limit "tournament" where the blinds never go up and you can cash out at anytime. Very popular.
