2nd orbit of the table there is an absolute maniac at the table. Stats are something like 90/40/7.5 (don't have them in front of me). I raise AA he 3 bets. Flop comes 335. He shows 3 5o [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

Which level is most fun? I love .25/50 I can LAG it up!

Spooky, it's like looking in a mirror. I think I am value betting too much at 1/2. More like value spewing. The "bet-bet-bet" line is not working out. My TPTK is losing to 2pr+ a lot. At least they never pop my on the river when they have me crushed.

#1. Never type anything mean in the chat box. If someone talks to you, it's ok to say something polite or self deprecating. My favorite is "I just bet and hope to get lucky." I think it's always a mistake to initiate chat.

last night a guy (whom I just busted out of an MTT) berated me for calling with QTo on the flop and calling 1/4pot bet on the flop with a gotshot. Closing the action against two weak players.

Technically, a gutshot isn't worth more than 1/10th of the pot, but my implied odds were huge. I went on to win 3rd place with his chips when my J hit the river.

I know I made the right play. I could have explained it to him in fine detail. I didn't. He said "You won't last long playing like that!". I said "It's just a game."

Later, I sucked two more players all in who were hoping to double up against the "just play to have fun guy."

#2. If you never bluffed below 1/2 you wouldn't be making a big mistake.

#3. A solid player won't lay down a made hand for one bet on the river.

I agree with this. Although I think to actually follow this advice might actually require more self-discipline for me than stuff like not over-betting or doing other tilty things.

Whilst I'm here: what's a trifecta (mentioned in one of the recent threads)? I googled for a poker glossary but all I got were horse racing references.

I found a 2+2 thread titled "Trifecta!" using search and the context seemed to indicate it's winning a pot that is capped on every street, possibly only being a trifecta when this happens heads up.
