alright, whats the truth with PLO and all the maniacs?
I've been playing quite a bit of online PLO at various levels, and have been pretty successful. On several occasions, and on several different sites, I have encountered MANIACS! players who raise every pot preflop, reraise whenever it is raised to them, come back over the top if reraised. Basically they get in the last bet preflop every time, even if it means going all in with what appears to be absolute junk, 2-5-6-10, maybe single suited. Alot of these players are just as loose then efter the flop. Some do tighten up and play fairly well post-flop, but many do not. They jam every pot at every occassion. Is this a plausible way to play. Obviously there would be a huge variance, but I will often see these maniacs cash out huge amounts.

If you play poker for fun and enjoy the adrenaline buzz that goes with winning big pots, then yes, this is a good way to play and PLO is a good game to choose. It's not so good if you want to make money in the long term.

I like sitting immediately to the right of them so if I want to play a hand with them raising, I'll close the action and can put in a big c/r when they bet the flop and others call when I hit hard.

The truth is that you have to sit there and wait. In a full ring game with the normal stretch of good to poor players no one will noice if you are nut-peddling....
My personal advice is to be tight-agressive and take down medium sized pots(10-20 x bb) without a showdown as and when the situation occurs.... However; in my experience; the preflop nutters who can play post-flop take the most money in the long term.... So be wary and be aware of your opponent! tony

They do it because the table lets them get away with it. Granted, there are some maniacs who will be maniacal no matter what you do; however, I have run into plenty who make note of who is playing back at them and will play differently against that player(s).
