Default Travel Questions

Ok...I will try and make this as non confusing as possible

In June I leave for Eastern Europe and South Africa

I have a few problems/difficulties so I am prolly gonna go to a travel agent eventually but thought I would give it a shot here too since a lot of you travel

Now my schedule goes - US to Lithuania to Cape Town to Durban to Johannesburg back to the US - my hotel and what not is taken care of everywhere but Cape Town. The reason for this is I opted to go there with one other friend 2+ weeks before we "have" to be in Durban for work.

Ok, the problem, there are 92340923942304 hotels in Cape Town and the city is way bigger than I thought (I know I wanna be on/near the shore and near Flat Top Mnt as well), but even knowing the general area I want to be in I am having trouble sorting through the endless amounts of hotels (which has become overwhelming)- and I just found out the airport is 27km+ away from this area!

Ok problem 2 - getting from Cape Town to Durban (on seperate sides of Africa) now the friend I am going with suggested flying, but its a PAIN looking up flights WITHIN south africa (or maybe i just SUCK with the internet), so I thought about train and there are trains that go between but I have never traveled by train and we would be hindered by thier departure schedules, any thoughts on this? This puts us in Durban like 5 days earlier or more, which I wanted to avoid because will be there a month, there is no point in going early. Should I try and get a train to another city along the way and stop over there and stay for a few days and try and end up in Durban around on time?

I realize this post is probably pointless, but maybe someone can help with something....what is the best way to look up all this stuff on your own? Its utterly exshausting, and the set dates to be in Durban by make it hard to accomidate. GGRRR!!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, or input on similar trips...although ones to Europe seem much easier to plan than one like this

hi Peachy,

this post made my head hurt. you might want to cut it down to:

"can you recommend a hotel in Cape Town"

and

"how can I find a flight between Cape Town & Durban"

edit: if you go to expedia.com, you can find flights between these cities.

not sure if link will work:

web page

Whenever I read any of Peachy's posts, I can't help but think about them being read aloud in that monkey talk voice.

Hahahaha

Whatever you do, I would reccomend flying between cape town and durban. South Africa is not exactly the safest country in the world.

Also, for flights within SA: http://ww2.flysaa.com/saa_home.html
