check/call or bet/fold or...?
15/30 PP 6 handed,
I'm in the BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] two limp, 1 fold, sb completes, I check. Flop: A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] sb check, I bet, fold, call, sb calls Turn: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] check, I bet, call, sb folds River: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I check, check My thinking was: Flop: Can't let the freecard off. I almost always have the best when everyone has limped in. Easy Turn: Even more important not to let anyone get river for free. I have many outs as long as no one has the flush. River: Only interesting street... when I was playong my thinking was that he 1. could have gone for an overcall on the turn. 2. was still on a draw or 3. had a better kicker that he might check through. After the check I instantly changed my mind and think I should have bet/folded. There are pro's and con's to both. what do you think? |

Without reads I would bet/fold [/ QUOTE ] I usually agree with u gildwulf. I'm having trouble finding a hand that he calls the flop with that u aren't ahead of at this point. I think it's between a b/f (clear fold) and a c/f, and I'm leaning towarda a c/f. |

Re: check/call or bet/fold or...?
bet/fold is pretty standard.
c/f is just terrible, IMO. |

Re: check/call or bet/fold or...?
I check/call. I think he will bet plenty of his pairs anyway and I want a shot at winning something from his busted draws.
Where is my thinking flawed? |

Those guys can't wait to call with any pair + draw that missed on the river or even pair + no draw. If he has a bigger ace, so be it. If he raises, super easy fold. IMO, c/f is the worst of all options. The whole purpose of checking is to induce bluffs from worse hands, not to get valuebet against. |

Re: check/call or bet/fold or...?
[ QUOTE ]
Without reads I would bet/fold [/ QUOTE ] Checking might be good against a very agressive player who will very frequently bluff bet a busted draw, "value" bet a lower pair or bluff raise if we bet. Also against a passive player who will check a lot of hands that beat us. This is not the case here as there are not a lot of these hands - maybe A6, A8 only. I think both these players will call any pair on the river. |
