Re: Drug Dealing Vs Playing Poker - Help Us Solve A Fight
Going by time invested I would much rather be a drug dealer. For instance a weed dealer sits around his place getting stoned and playing video games all day. People stop by to smoke with you and play video games with you. They give you moeny to do this. Deal some coke too and a couple k a week is pretty easy. Downside is that worrying about the cops is much worse than worrying about a downswing.

Re: Drug Dealing Vs Playing Poker - Help Us Solve A Fight
i voted poker before i read the post, after reading it i definitely think it's drugs, but that's cause of the intelligence thing. For most 2+2er's with high intelligence and relatively low street smarts there is obviously much more money in poker, considering the risk/reward, than drugs. Take your average joe though and its pretty obviously drugs.

Re: Drug Dealing Vs Playing Poker - Help Us Solve A Fight
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] read the chapter in Freakonomics about what it's actually like money wise to be a drug dealer. you are mentally retarded if you're going to compare pablo escobar to some guy grinding out 10/20. [/ QUOTE ] I'd have to agree with this statement. I've read that book and it really opened my eyes with regards to what drug dealers actually make. To make real bank as a drug dealer, you have to be the boss of the boss of the boss of the street dealers, and even then you aren't making as much as ANY of the big name pros. Pablo Escobar is like the guy at the very top of an immense pyramid scheme. It's an extremely top-heavy industry. [/ QUOTE ] right. even high level drug dealers typically make less than a half a million dollars a year, that book shows. [/ QUOTE ] From what i remember in that chapter, its been over a year since i read it, it narrowly focused on mostly low-level street dealers and even the "boss" was decidedly mid-level. There actually are a more than a few of Escobar type level people world-wide..they just aren't trying to get in the papers. Do you have any idea how much coke/heroin is sold in a year..the numbers are staggering money-wise. That's not even including, by some accounts, a 25-41 billion/yr. marijuana industry in the U.S. alone. Even outside of the truly top-level guys in the world, some of whom are billionaires, there are many nameless/faceless very discreet multi-millionaires at the mid-levels. |

Poker and it's not even close. Just how easy do you think it is to make thousands a day selling drugs?
