Did blowing into the end of a NES cartridge actually do anything (i.e. make the game work), or was it just in our minds?

Blowing into the end of an NES cartrige actually moistened the coils so that they would conduct electricity better and work when they were normally messing up. This ultimately destroyed the system and the game if done repeatedly.

In Tecmo Super Bowl, just after the coin flip there is some awesome NES voice action that sounds much like an adult in a Charlie Brown cartoon. I assume this is the captains determining their selections.

"Waah-wah-wah."

"Wah-Wah!"

What do you suppose the exact English translation of this dialogue would be?

It was just in your mind. It was a problem with the copper connectors inside not lining up properly because of that spring loaded platform. The top loading Famicom(Japanese NES) and the later redesigned NES had no problems because they didn't use the platform.

That you don't know about Metroid's JUSTIN BAILEY code makes it clear you are not qualified to run this thread. BOO THIS MAN.

If I had to guess:

"Heads or tails?"
"Play ball!"

either that or:

"Let's be friends!"
"O- KAY!"

Blowing inside the cartridge moistened the copper connectors and made the game work periodically.
