Default American Inventor - wth?

What is up with some of the people on American Inventor. One guy spent 26 years, sold his car, house, and his wife's wedding ring and all he had was a table with some balls.

A guy from the first episode had spent over 20k and all he had was a plastic shovel.

I've never invented anything, but where do all these costs come from? You see people on here investing all of their money and most of their lives with nothing to show. I think they use the same guest pool as the Jerry Springer show.

The dude was clearly disturbed. He probably spent all this money running around trying to get people to buy into his game (and getting the same response he got from the judges).

This is a reasonable price to get a plastics company to make a mold and some prototypes. A friend of mine did something like this and it wasn't cheap.

I agree.

Mary Lou is ruining the selection process by passing and arguing for marginal inventions with little sales potential. Why are Ed and Peter changing their votes for her? Doug is the only one I agree with consistently.

All I know is, I won't watch this show anymore unless someone comes up with an invention that punches her repeatedly in the face.

I missed the first episode, but had the misfortune of watching it last night. They had better knock off all the pseudo emotional crap and show a little more of the inventions or the show will tank if it has not already done so.
