I went: A Day In The Life, Help, Eight Days A Week, Here Comes The Sun, Penny Lane, Let It Be, Yesterday, Back In The USSR. These were mostly pretty straightforward choices for me, with the exception of Yesterday and Eight Days A Week.

Sad Golden Slumbers went out, but I'm cheering 'all you need is love' all the way now...

I am easily the biggest Beatles fan out of anyone I personally know, and I just don't get the love for AYNIS. It seems so half-hearted and commercialized to me.

There were some very tough calls. Most of my pics are going down in flames, but at least they are losing the OTHER Beatles songs

Across the Universe is losing? Are you kidding me?

[/ QUOTE ]

Most people voting have probably never heard of the song. However, the definitely know "Let it Be."

man i missed Eleanor Rigby getting dicked in the group stage. So much for 'musical perfection'

2 of my top 3 continue to thrive. Rock on.

Penny Lane being in the final 16 is laughable. That it's beating Norwegian Wood and will make the final 8 makes this poll officially on LSD.

while my guitar gently weeps and yesterday unfair match-up, the lower seeds are supposed to match up with the higher

wow! I'm amazed how much Penny Lane is pwning Norwegian Wood.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't be surprised if many people can't even remember Norwegian Wood. I chose it, but I think Penny Lane is one of the first songs people think of when they think of the Beatles, and it's not a bad song at all. I think its familiarity alone makes this one a foregone conclusion.

Hey Jude is a fat steaming turd on the lawn of the Beatles discography.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. This one is not one of their better ones, though it was one of their most popular -- kind of like Benny and the Jets was one of Elton John's worst early songs, but it was his most popular.
