That "not wanting to move my stuff" line is bull. Just because there's a rebid, doesn't mean he has to bid. And if there's only you and the other guy bidding one of you gets the en suite room cheaper anyway; see how "stuff boy" likes them apples.

He probably wanted to get someone else to carry his rent for him and is using your desire for an en suite as leverage.

You already have one guy on your side. If the third guy doesn't like an equal rent drop tell him that he'll end up moving his stuff in a way that he isn't going to like.

I'm glad the poll is so firmly on your side.

I have some sympathy with the "proportional drop" argument too, though.
