Isn't checking with the intention of raising a late position bet best on this flop?

If you knew/thought there would be a late positino bet, then yes. But betting right out is also fine with top pair here I think.

I don't think you'll get bluff raised much so I'd bet/fold. Hero's hand looks like a pair and a big spade that bet the flop and didn't want to get raised on the turn.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I bet river - HiloPro said - "No doubt" in a chat and folded and i felt a little stup as i can't see enough hands worse than mine that could call this river as well as better then mine hands to fold. Though in such a pot he could bluff enough for me to call.

Also i was more unsure on a turn, not the flop, where i believe - betting far ahead in compare to c/r-sing in such multiway pots and this lineup where you will face 2bets cold having the best hand too often. On a turn my call with trashy draw and second pair when 2 people still left 2 act and completed flush draw seems pretty thin IMO.

Ok.

But here when we bet and get called in three spots and check the turn, can we really call last-to-act's bet with two still left behind us? It seems really close to me.

if behind, you have 5 outs to two pair or trips, 3 outs to a straight and flush outs. sure, all of them are dirty, but I think the combination of the times you are good plus the times you improve outweigh the times there is a check-raise on the turn, or you improve to second best. The size of the pot at this point is giving you some type of overlay on all your dirty outs anyways.

but its definitely not cut and dried.
