Re: suggested strategy for homegame against total newbs
don't try to bluff
valuebet good hands hard, they never look at bet sizing (unless it's a huge overbet). a little over the pot for a set, a bit less for TPTK, etc don't play draws agressivly like you would because of fold equity, you don't have FE at all from my experience: beluga-theorem is also available against donks... Just make sure the money goes in ahead. When you 3- or 4-bet preflop, don't be hesitant to fold a huge overpair on a 955 board if you get to much action. |

check-raise on turn means you're usually beat with an overpair or TPTK
or isn't that beluga? always get mixed up with names like this... |

Re: suggested strategy for homegame against total newbs
Don't let yourself be overcome with FPS (Fancy Play Syndrome). If they are total newbs they aren't going to understand and aren't going to pay attention to it.
They are most likely going to play their cards with little recognition of what other hands may be out there to beat them. Like someone else said don't bluff newbs because they won't pick up on it. Straight TAG ABC poker should be fairly effective in this game. Just my 2 cents. |

Tighten up a little more.
Acting weak may get you calls if you have a monster. |

Here's a link to the Baluga Theorem. BalugaWhale is just the name of the poster that created the theory.

don't play draws agressivly like you would because of fold equity, you don't have FE at all [/ QUOTE ] I dont get it. Why should you give a beginner the right odds for drawing ? If he calls anyway then you will win in the long run and that is everything what seperates you from the bad players. However, if the blinds are too high to survive a loose to such a draw then push or fold. My experience is, that if you go allin you will get alot of respect. Anything else wont matter at all. For example, if you are in the BB with 49o and you get 2 pair on the Flop against 5 limper preflop, you should protect as much as possible. If my stack is only 5 or 6 times the current pot i will go allin, because only with this push I can avoid giving the all theses callers the right odds, after one or two have called. Play against total newbs as TAG as possible imho |

[/ QUOTE ] At what point did i say anything about draws of the other players? i'm saying that stuff like bet/3bet all-in with 1 or 2 overs + flushdraw isn't always the best play, since they're not folding top pair or even middle pair with a decent kicker. The correctness of this move depends on FE as well, which you have not at all against players like this. |
