$11 Stars MTT, AQs push/fold decision
Stars $11 tourney started with 3000 in chips and slightly over 3000 players, we're down to 930 players remaining. Tried to use the hand history converter from the FAQ but the link didn't work. So...
Seat 1: La_Rasta (7025 in chips) Seat 2: cavscoutdad (3490 in chips) Seat 3: BoooM84 (8740 in chips) Seat 4: mikeefu (16165 in chips) Seat 5: squid300 (14490 in chips) Seat 7: mm racer (15590 in chips) Seat 8: Hero (3135 in chips) Seat 9: kalamitsis (7190 in chips) La_Rasta: posts the ante 25 cavscoutdad: posts the ante 25 BoooM84: posts the ante 25 mikeefu: posts the ante 25 squid300: posts the ante 25 mm racer: posts the ante 25 Hero: posts the ante 25 kalamitsis: posts the ante 25 La_Rasta: posts small blind 200 cavscoutdad: posts big blind 400 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Hero [As Qs] BoooM84: folds mikeefu: raises 400 to 800 squid300: folds mm racer: folds Hero: raises 2310 to 3110 and is all-in My M is about 4, but mikeefu has been playing very tight and that minraise looks suspicious, haven't seen him do that before. AQs felt very borderline in this situation to me. Push or fold? |

Start using a converter people, it's really getting annoying:

Re: $11 Stars MTT, AQs push/fold decision
Make a note on the player. Some minraise with SC/Gappers from EP wanting to look scary so they can see a flop. Others minraise to shove over a RR...without a read AQs is more than enough to shove with <10 BB.

[ QUOTE ]
so you're saying when he opens it hasnt been for a minraise ever? or he hasnt been opening so its suspicious no matter what. either way its pretty close. i would probably shove without thinking [/ QUOTE ] I guess what I'm saying is I generally find a minraise to be suspicious unless its against a habitual minraiser, and I hadn't seen that pattern from this guy. But also he hadn't been opening many pots period, and none that I can recall from such early position, so its possible that his default raise from there is a minraise. Regardless he was tight enough that him entering the pot at all was scary, and for me the minraise makes it a bit scarier (but like another poster said, it could be a way to see a cheap flop with something speculative, playing on the fear a minraise might produce, as it does for me). Result: he called my push with AKo and I was eliminated. Normally that push is automatic but because of my read I was close to folding, which based on the responses I got sounds about right. I'll use that converter next time. |
