Giving screenames is optional, but it is useful for a few reasons. They have a searchable member database so you can know what members play at specific sites and levels. This is useful for avoiding them as well as being able to contact other members whi are successful at a given level for advice and such by intant message or chat or whatever.

FWIW I have found the site to be well worth the money.
