Brand new to the site and the game...stupid questions
I've just started playing Hold 'em in the last few weeks and I played my first money sng last night. I have two questions (probably the first of many). 1. I see where people post their hand histories to get help with their game. I would love to do that with the SNG I played last night, how do I convert it to something this board can use?
2. I see everyone talking about using software on some of the different sites. What do these programs do for you, and do the sites themselves consider them unethical? Thanks in advance for your help. I've already learned alot just by reading the board. |

Also, if I'm looking at my own hand history, what should I be looking for?

I dont think you're going to get feedback posting that many hands. Go to the forum that asks for SNG analysis and do a couple hands.

agreed 100%..... cut it down to the few hands that you had serious questions about, or that were pivotal (without being obvious)......... others can tell you, but i think posting it here is o.k. too..

Re: Brand new to the site and the game...stupid questions
I'll repost that in a few minutes, with a lot fewer hands. In the meantime, so I can do that kind of analysis myself, when you look at a hand history what are you looking for?
Along the same line, when you are looking at your statistics, what kind of trends are you trying to spot? |

SNG are different than cash table so focus on stats isn't quite as huge (and table dynamics always changing)... but first stat to look at is % of hands played. should be very low at full table in SNG) |

Re: Brand new to the site and the game...stupid questions
thanks for being so willing to help. My % of hands played seems to be in the 30's or lower most of the time. Even in the play money games.

Re: Brand new to the site and the game...stupid questions
sounds too high... assuming early SNG with full or near-full table... the view on SNG's has always been do almost nothing early, then switch into LAG mode when table has thinned considerably. and then apply ICM model type view (i.e. first priority is making the money..... flat EV decision can be highly -CEV, or negative prize money EV. i.e. if you move up, moderate chance at higher money, if you lose, you're out with no money....
