Default 0.01/0.02 NL5 - Extracting with the nuts

No reads on any players.

Hand 1:
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (7 handed)

Hero ($5.11)
UTG ($4.05)
MP1 ($4.05)
MP2 ($5.12)
CO ($4.75)
Button ($3.07)
SB ($2.75)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
UTG calls $0.02, MP1 calls $0.02, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, Hero checks.

Flop: ($0.07) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.04</font>, UTG calls $0.04, MP1 calls $0.04.

I considered check-raising or slowplaying, but decided that a. I didn't want to risk it getting checked around and b. I wanted to build a pot.

Turn: ($0.19) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.15</font>, UTG calls $0.15, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 raises to $0.5</font>, Hero calls $0.35, UTG calls $0.35.

I didn't think a full house was too likely. I figured they either had a 7 or they were bluffing the paired board. I figured that by just calling the raise, I'd likely be able to get my value bet called on the river.

River: ($1.69) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.8</font>, UTG folds, MP1 calls $0.80.

I figured a 1/2 pot value bet would likely get called after I just called the raise on the turn. Think I could have gotten away with a larger value bet?

Final Pot: $3.29

Hand 2:
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (8 handed)

Hero ($6.91)
CO ($2.98)
Button ($5.11)
SB ($4.73)
BB ($1.19)
UTG ($0.96)
UTG+1 ($3.07)
MP1 ($2.74)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.08</font>, CO calls $0.08, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>.

Flop: ($0.19) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, CO checks.

I figure a c-bet will get a fold unless they have the fourth A and I was hoping that a check would induce a bluff bet that I can just smooth call. No such luck.

Turn: ($0.19) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.06</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $0.12</font>, Hero calls $0.06.

I made a very small bet hoping to portray weakness and induce a raise. Perhaps I should have be a little bit bigger than I did though? Should I have raised the min-raise? Like hand 1, I figured a call would likely get a call from my river value bet.

River: ($0.43) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.2</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $0.4</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $0.6</font>, CO calls $0.20.

Normally I don't like to min-raise, but this opponent obviously does...I didn't want to scare them out of the pot with a bigger raise and I was also hoping they would 4-bet my min-3-bet.

Final Pot: $1.63

Thoughts?

Thanks,
RJ78

If someone raises you at NL5 and you have the nuts just push all in. They're mostly not going to lay down something they want to raise with.

Your bets are too small all around. You want to get ALL the money in the middle and it's easier at NL5 than any other stakes. Just bet higher. Sure they'll fold sometimes, but the times they call will more than make up for it.

If everyone's folding anything higher than a minraise find a different table. I guarantee you there are people who will call all in with only bluff-catching hands on some of the tables available to you.

Hand 1: bet the pot on the flop or overbet with these deep stacks. Turn is fine, river is fine.

Hand 2:

[/ QUOTE ] Don't rely on your opponents you do your betting for you. He has an Ace, I'd just push the river after his minraise. I'd also reraise the turn minraise.
