Here is song I think you may be able to dance to. Southern Sun [/ QUOTE ] Danceable, yes, but when it comes to this style of music, I'm looking for things with slower tempos. Right around the tempo of Glory Box is perfect, but depending on the feel, maybe a little faster will do, too. You have anything that fits this description? |

Re: The Trip-Hop/Chill/Dream Pop thread
Dom (All),
This thread has some great stuff but I was hoping for something a little different. I don't really think there is a specific genre for what I am thinking of. I'm probably just picking ballads from different artists and thinking there is a "catch-all" sound somewhere. Something more "lazy" and haunting without the backbeat I am hearing in alot of these examples. The Azure Ray "Drinks We Had Last Night" (from female singer/songwriter thread) was a great example of what I am getting at. Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" and "Into Dust" come to mind Also "Wicked Game" which I know is played out but the sound is representative. Also Julee Cruise: The World Spins (Couldn't find the complete song) Into The Night (Ignore weird video) Questions In A World Of Blue (Give it a sec... the song kicks in) Screw it, I'm kinda all over the place. Sorry for the hijack...I'll keep an eye on this thread and the other one. |

Wookie:
If you want something with the same rhythm as that song: The Harder They Come I would suggest DJ Tiesto as well, but I just counted some of his stuff, and it is with the speed of Oakenfold. I am not huge into Dance. But you may want to check out Madonna's Confession on a Dance Floor. You can even pick it up in Vinyl, and it is a very solid work. sorry hung up Oakenfold remixed Sorry Here is some Tiesto. Maybe he is fast for your tastes. Just Be Rain Down On Me : It takes a minute for it to get to the point. And the Tiesto mix of Southern Sun Tell me if I am getting closer. There is tons of dance music that I have heard that I wish I could find, and tons that I used to own that I no longer have. If you like any of the above, you ought to go ahead and explore some more. Good luck. |

Re: The Trip-Hop/Chill/Dream Pop thread
Laika - lush, dreamy female vocals on top of complex, jazzy trip hoppybeats and blips. Band is still around - according to their website - next album is half in the bag.

Sounds of the Satellites (1997) 3. Good Looking Blues (2000) 4. Wherever I Am, I Am What Is Missing (2003) 4. Lost in Space - Vol 1 (2003) - career retrospective. some samples from youtube 1. Alphabet Soup - from Wherever I Am, I Am What is Missing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM_FU...eature=related 4. Zero 7 -- I've heard In the Waiting Line before, and it's pretty good. This is another one I might consider picking up. Home was interesting, but not as much music that'd get me dancing. [/ QUOTE ] Try Sia - Breathe Me (Mylo Remix) Sia is the lead singer from Zero 7, but by herself. This is remixed by Mylo, who is [censored] awesome. Great song. |

Re: The Trip-Hop/Chill/Dream Pop thread
Thievery Corporation is the best at this sort of thing, IMO. All arists on the ESL label are really damned good. Maybe not trip-hop as much as acid-jazz/lounge music, but it's a sub-set of trip-hop to many.
Thievery Corporation - Richest Man in Babylon and Lebanse Blonde are my two favorites from them. Thunderball and Federico Aubele are other standouts Federico Aubele - Postales Thunderball |

On a quality system this song is incredible. |

Re: The Trip-Hop/Chill/Dream Pop thread
Hey, cool thread, I like a lot of this stuff.
No mention of the old Sneaker Pimp's yet? Maybe only trip-hop influenced and a bit lighter but I come back to the Becoming X album quite often, lots of good stuff in there. 6 Underground Post Modern Sleaze |
