On the turn, I was hoping to collect more money on the river. However, I wonder if it was worth the risk of slowplaying with three high cards to a straight already on the board. On the river, I thought a raise would scare away callers, possibly including the bettor. Though, I really have no idea what the best play here is. Were these calls right? |

By failing to raise the turn, the terrorists have now won. Thanks a lot, bud.

Re: Value-raising on Turn and River
Definitely raise that turn for value.
I'd just go ahead and raise the river as played. Busted draws aren't calling anyway, and this is .5/1. People are probably dumb enough to cold-call with just a pair. |

Re: Value-raising on Turn and River
Good Lord, you are behind to like one or two possible hands on the turn and have someone betting into you. Raise that up yo.
Also, you slow play when you are ahead of hands that can get better and still be behind. In this case you are afraid of pretty much any broadway card that doesn't pair the board so keep betting. |

Re: Value-raising on Turn and River
Grunch:
Preflop: I just call with some many players limping and I don't believe we have the equity to raise. Flop: As played. Turn: It looks like MP1 missed his C/R and will bet his 2 pair and I want to raise since I have the best hand. A reraise will show me if I am looking at AT and am behind. If reraised I call and c/c the River. River: I has a suspicion that CO may have been going for overcalls and now with CO checking he has to bet his hand. I call but in real life I would have raised and called a reraise which is probably showing how this nit overplays his cards...haha |

On the river, I thought a raise would scare away callers, [/ QUOTE ] so how are you making more money by just calling? hint: if you dont bet they cant call. poker101. |

Re: Value-raising on Turn and River
Given the preflop bet, which I don't have an opinion about, I'd like to know why you wouldn't raise the flop. With position and for continuation (is that what c-bet means?), doesn't that let you know who is serious?
