AK pf, 4 bet shoved into by tag
No HH for this one but here is the hand:
Stars 100nl Villian is MP, opens to $4. I am button, raise to $14 with AKs Villian pushes. (we both have $100 to start hand) Reads: 1st time we played a hand this session, he was on a couple of my tables, 20/18 stats over a few hundred hands. Your play? |

VS a 20/18 with no specific reads I snap call, but that's with my image.

Re: AK pf, 4 bet shoved into by tag
I think its better to be the aggressor in this spot. Obv greater +EV with the FE when getting it in first. A fold isn't out of the question.
I think your rarely a big fav in this spot by calling with AK. |

Re: AK pf, 4 bet shoved into by tag
He means his image makes it possible for him to profitably call. If you're a nit then calling this shove is the most horrible play possible. If you're a raving 60/40 maniac then this is a snap call. Some where in between is the image point where it becomes profitable and where it becomes spew.

I think its better to be the aggressor in this spot. [/ QUOTE ] Well, I think it's better to have aces in this spot, but that's not what happened. [ QUOTE ] I think your rarely a big fav in this spot by calling with AK. [/ QUOTE ] "You're", and we don't have to be. |

Re: AK pf, 4 bet shoved into by tag
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 58.096% 38.81% 19.28% 55825068 27736416.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo } Hand 1: 41.904% 22.62% 19.28% 32535636 27736416.00 { AKs } Villain probably isn't pushing worse than QQ+,AKs,AKo here. It's close, but you need 42.68% (86/201.5) equity to call vs. that range, and you don't have it, so fold. Actually you'd need 43.325% (86/198.5) assuming $3 rake. So it's still (barely) a fold vs. JJ+,AKs,AKo too. (You have 42.806% in that case.) |

[/ QUOTE ] It's reasonable to discount AA and, to some extent KK, because many people are less likely to push them rather than 4-betting smaller or flat-calling and trapping. Unless they are leveling. And he's gonna have something stupid every now and then. It's pretty close, really, and just a matter of making some sort of reasonable read and going with it. |
