Re: a hand vs PA, 200/400 HU
I doubt he would bluff us if he knew we had a small flush. But he probably thinks we can fold a small flush occasionally (and it's not a big part of our range).

Re: a hand vs PA, 200/400 HU
Action on 4th obv. dependent on hero's read. Hero has already expressed some difficulty in gauging PA's play, so with what likelihood can we rule out flopped trips or a high club in villain's hand and put him on air?
If he's not on air, you should be re-popping. Imo, facing a 16K bet when villain has just 55-60K behind, and unsure if he is on air, a re-raise on 4th should be considered as the possible optimal play. Disagree that decision is different because this is 200/400, and not 2/4. And if you think optimal line is to smooth on 4th to induce villain's bluff on 5th, should be calling the 45K on fifth pretty quickly. |

Re: a hand vs PA, 200/400 HU
i see all the reasons for not raising the flop or the turn, but i dont know if calling those streets is correct here vs pa.
you say that pa loves to cr paired boards and follow through on the turn, which is probably because it lets him bet with much more impunity as you wont raise light fearing he has trips and will stick it in. because of this, you should be floating the flop and raising the turn much more often, along with raising the flop with bluffs and marginal hands. i think you need to be making more thin raises in those spots and getting your money in on paired boards lighter and then adjusting correctly when you get a sense of how he adjusts to your counterstrategy on paired boards. to balance floating, bluffraising and thinvalueraising on paired boards, you also need to raise when you have monsters like this. i dont think playing a call/call/call game vs pa's style on paired boards is good strategy. youre playing into his hands. |

Re: a hand vs PA, 200/400 HU
How do you know he defends his blinds 'way more than he should'? If he's really one of the best NL players in the world, perhaps there is a reason for this high defense %, and maybe it is correct?
