Default 25NL - Rivered straight on paired board, villian wakes up

Not thrilled with the whole hand. Pre-flop call is weak, but table was loose so thought I had a decent shot of limping in without a raise. On the turn, I called thinking I could probably double up with a J and get away cheap on anything else. But the river action really threw me.

Villian is not in my pt database and I'd only seen him play for a short time, he seemed semi-loose but nothing unusual from him.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) converter

MP2 ($24.65)
CO ($12.35)
Button ($19.40)
SB ($34.55)
BB ($49.95)
UTG ($10)
UTG+1 ($13.55)
Hero ($10.40)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.25, MP2 calls $0.25, 1 fold, Button calls $0.25, SB completes, BB checks.

SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, Button checks.

Turn: ($1.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 players)
SB bets $0.5, BB folds, UTG folds, Hero calls $0.50, MP2 folds, Button folds.

River: ($2.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets $5, Hero ???

What does villian's 2 x pot bet mean?
- I just made a monster on the river?
- I had the 7 and now I mean business?
- I missed a flush draw, but the board is scary and I want the pot?

Can you fold this? If not, do you call it and showdown or do you push here?

I've seen people complete in the SB with just about anything. Villain could have made a FH with A7, K7, J7, or JJ (even AA or KK but these seem less likely).

I'm unable to put villain on a narrow range of hands. That said I don't think we get called by something we beat often enough to warrent a push. A call I think here is +EV. I'm not sure if raising is a +EV though I am open to other opinions. I think a push though is probably a -EV.

Like jjigglers I too am a pussy.

If we think the river made him a boat, should I have raised the turn? Or was I right to just call it on the draw?

maple leafs,

the call on the turn was fine

river should be pushed (due to your stack size)

in future, buy in full

I'm not sure I understand this concept (I mostly play SnGs). I can understand pushing with a small stack in a tourney situation, but why would it matter in a cash game? Don't all my chips have equal value?

Poor form to bump/quote my own post, but would someone be willing to explain this concept to a relative noob?

Because my hand is likely good, or because I have so much of my stack in already?
