Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
So these two spots may be basic but w/e, any thoughts?
Hand 1 Villian is a 62/34 lagfish, probably raising atc here. Full Tilt Poker, $0.25/$0.50 PL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players LeggoPoker Hand History Converter UTG: $59.90 MP: $54.70 CO: $28.70 BTN: $52.30 SB: $71.15 Hero (BB): $50 Pre-Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB) 4 folds, SB raises to $1.50, Hero??? Hand 2 Villian is 30/28, very aggro but not retarded, tightens up considerably post flop. Full Tilt Poker, $0.25/$0.50 PL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players LeggoPoker Hand History Converter BTN: $23.90 Hero (SB): $49.75 BB: $40 UTG: $37.85 MP: $56.70 CO: $77.90 Pre-Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (SB) UTG folds, MP raises to $1.75, 2 folds, Hero??? |

I don't understand. Just dont turn perfectly fine hands into bluffs if this is what you mean.

Re: Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
Hand 1 I 3bet, or float and raise any flop, or sometimes call and float flop and raise most turns.
Hand 2 I usually call vs non-steal-raise, but vs this villain I probably 3bet since his range is still pretty wide, especially if I have been waiting for a chance to play back, and if he tightens up considerably post flop you might not get much value if you call and hit your set. |

Re: Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
hand 1. I call. He is calling a ton of 3bets, so no fold equity there, after the flop we are basically a dog to ATC, and its not like hes folding any piece of the board to a cbet.
hand 2. Good spot to 3bet. sounds like he will lay it down frequently. But more importantly, if we flat, hit our set, hes not paying us very often. |

Re: Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
1. Call. This is a spot where I'm fine with just playing for set value b/c this guy is going to stack off on a lot of flops when you hit. I don't like reraising b/c this type is likely to play back at you either preflop or on the flop.
2. Sometimes call, sometimes raise. It depends on the type of player in the BB and history w/ the MP player. If the BB is a donkish type player that likes to stack off light, I'm more likely to call to try and see the flop multiway. If I haven't played back at MP from the blinds in a while and he's capable of folding to a reraise I'll repop it. |

Re: Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
Hand 1: 22 is a coinflip against ATC. I'd call for set value expecting to get paid off bigtime when I hit as this guy is probably betting out with, and unably to fold almost anything.
Hand 2: You and I are quite different AZplaya but my standard here would be play for set value OOP here. I might get fancy if he's been messing around in CO or button (or if I'm in LP) but I'll give him some credit in MP here. |

Re: Two basic preflop situations - NL$50 6m
Hand #1 call set value alone will be +EV vs this type villain..
Hand #2 From MP I will still make calling PF my standard(or in a vacuum) but will ALSO be mixing in some 3 betting..Post flop will not only be playing for set value but will mix in a C/R UI from time to time to keep villain honest on c-betting me out of to many pots(metagame).. |
