Re: 2007 SEC Football Thread
You UF guys have a pathology re: Ron Zook that approaches Domer's opinions of Ty Willingham.
I don't see Zook back in the SEC though. I think he is content where he is (but I'm pulling that right out of my ass). |

It should be "Sorry for LSU, but Kansas deserves a shot at Oregon." [/ QUOTE ] Really, you tell me what looks more impressive. If Oregon and LSU both win out. LSU 13-1 With wins over #9, #12, #9, #18, #17 and either #9 or 20 in the SEC Championship. Lost to #17 in 3 OT's. Oregon 11-1 With wins over #6, #9, #6. Lost to #4 Looking at this I wonder why LSU has played close game. Every damn week they're playing a top 25 team. |

[/ QUOTE ] he loves it in Illinois right now, but who knows if Illinois would match the $$$ that some SEC school such as Auburn or Tennessee could through Zook's way Zook has many ties to Florida (Jacksonville area especially) and Ohio for recruiting. He has really turned the corner within Illinois. If the Illini get David Young and Brandon Harold, who are leaning Illinois right now, it will be the best job Illinois has done locking up the home state that I can remember. The DC area recruits that Illinois gets are largely due to Mike Locksley. I'll be surprised if Locksley doesn't end up elsewhere, head coach of a mid-level program, if the Illini win this next game. Zook's in-game coaching is still a question mark The loss to Iowa was due in a significant way to a couple very bizarre Zook decisions. Illinois was up 6-3. Iowa had the ball. Instead of taking the result of the play and giving Iowa a 4th and 2 at the Illinois 13, Zook took a 5 yard illegal formation penalty to move the Hawkeyes back to the 18 and have it stay 3rd down. Iowa's kicker was ready to come in and Ferentz and co have pretty much said they were going to kick. Next play, Iowa hits an 18 yd TD pass. That was the games final score. Iowa 10 Illinois 6. That decision might keep Illinois out of the Rose Bowl. (If Illinois won that game and beats N'western and Ohio State beats Michigan Saturday, Illinois would've received the Rose Bowl auto berth from the Big11Ten.) |

Re: 2007 SEC Football Thread
I'd love to see Zook at Auburn recruiting the Florida studs with Muschamp at DC and a high-paid OC to replace Borges. But that's just me.
