Didn\'t have a plan.. ok laydown?
This was pretty much the best flop I could hope for, barring flopping a set, yet I can't find it in me to take this all the way. This was a 9 man STT, so top 3 pay. I was in good position and didn't feel this was a spot for all my chips.
Most of the people in this STT didn't really bet unless they had something pretty good. I'm usually TAG but had been playing LAG most of this game because most of the table seemed easily exploitable for blind steals and c-bets. Also, I took down a pot very early with 56s against Button's AA when he did not raise PF or on the flop and I turned a flush. About 10 hands ago I 3-barreled a monotone board with 82o and showed the bluff when he folded. Yet, I can't see this play as terribly out of line. Was this fold weak? (Final note: I know the smooth call OOP was probably a bad idea, but I had been outplaying him postflop quite well, so take that for what it's worth...) I have a couple of problems with the hand. Although the main one is - if villain raises you on the flop, why have you called then c/f on the turn when a blank appears? Shove/fold/call-shove/crai turn, any really. He's not making that type of raise on a draw.

Calling flop and then check/folding turn when nothing changes is pretty bad, I'd probably just 3-bet jam flop

Yeah, I'm in complete agreement that the flop call, c/f turn was horrible. I felt dirty afterwards, but the minraise on the flop worried me. I wanted to fold right there, not sure why I didn't. This guy had been so passive I just had to put him on a higher overpair.
I think I should have just folded the flop |

Re: Didn\'t have a plan.. ok laydown?
You could just c/c or c/r on the flop.
Both seem to be better than donking(no front, in this case betting without initiative), because many players won't respect your flopbet and raise you with overs here. I think I like check/calling the flop best because you're both deep and the pot is already pretty big. On the turn he prolly won't bet any hand you're ahead of and bet any hand ahead of you so then you are able to make a good fold. |
