Re: What was Manning\'s QB rating tonight?

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] An even better page, QBs with a 0 passer rating: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_qua...rating_of_zero [/ QUOTE ] I can't wait until Young makes that list 3 or 4 times before his career is over. [/ QUOTE ] Even Rex Grossman is only on the list once. It would take quite a talent to make it on the list 3-4 times. But you got to love Grossman's game log: http://www.nfl.com/players/rexgrossm...mp;season=2006 Last year, he had games of 10.2, 36.8, 1.3, and 0.0. And still kept his starting job. [/ QUOTE ] I think having a rating of 1.3 is more impressive than 0.0. How the hell do you get a 1.3? |

Re: What was Manning\'s QB rating tonight?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Some people in this forum seriously need to learn why stats are used - to be applied, not as strict dogma. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think it's people in this forum. Most of us realize the QB rating is pretty piss-poor. What irks me about it is you get sports radio callers who think David Carr is a good QB because his QB rating is high because of his penchant for 4 yard horizontal passing and lamenting gun-slinging the ball downfield in fear of throwing an INT. [/quote What I find perplexing is that Joe Sports Talk Radio doesn't mind using the complex, but flawed quarterback rating, but will demean and belittle those who use a very good statistic like VORP. |

FWIW, list of games with perfect QB ratings. Peyton has 4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_qua..._passer_rating [/ QUOTE ] Not only is Big Ben top 3, but this makes it clear that he's a top 2 QB in the NFL. |

And what about when you throw a 10 yard slant and someone runs 70 yards for the TD? This system makes you look so much better because of WR YAC. [/ QUOTE ] So does every statistic. DPAR doesn't seperate YAC either. |

QB's have more of an influence on YAC than the WR.

QB's have more of an influence on YAC than the WR. [/ QUOTE ] How so? I think YAC would come from good O. Coordinators and WR's. What does the QB have to do with it above putting the ball in the receivers chest? |

Re: What was Manning\'s QB rating tonight?
Curious to see how Alex Smith does especially if you take away that last meaningless pass of the first half as time expired...

I'd have to see some evidence before I'd think THAY3R is right. My personal opinion is he's probably not, but I think it's quite possible he is. |
