stats like that don't grow on trees so i am making an assumption that they get more calls in their favor. i ASSUME the majority of non colts fans feel the same way. [/ QUOTE ] That bolded part is very telling. You Patriots fans like to feel that you're the only team hated on "for your success". I guarantee you that's not the case. Its much much easier to say "god damnit, that call/no-call is just another sign that they're getting help" when you don't like a team, no matter who it is that you root for or against. |

Re: NFL Week 10 Sunday Night Football: Colts@ Chargers
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Jesus, do you people not realize that a 29 yard field goal is easier for an NFL kicker than a 24 yarder when you're kicking it from the hash? The angle's the only thing that can make it remotely missable and the angle's easier from further out. [/ QUOTE ] Since the hashes are at the width of the uprights, I don't think this is the case. [/ QUOTE ] This interested me so I looked up the dimensions. Field goal pole is 9.75' from center. Hash is 20' from center. Hash to pole distances are thus 10.25' and 29.75'. Kicks are 72' and 87' respectively. Thus, angle for the 24 yarder is 14.348 degrees. The angle for the 29 yarder is 12.159 degrees. Second one is more difficult. But to factor how much more difficult, you need to find the standard deviation of a kicker's (or more specifically, Vinitari's) error from the center (in degrees) and turn that into a probability distribution. |

This thread is hilarious. Colts fans, I realize your season is probably over but the Pacers are off to a pretty sweet start so that's something. Cody, learn how to make a reply properly by TRIMMING the quotes you're responding to. Jesus, that nappy posting style of yours reminds me of the crotchal region of chunky 70s porn stars. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] And that second sentence is priceless. [/ QUOTE ] ok, and be serious here. if a man were to approach you with 100k in a briefcase and say "do you think more PI calls go in the colts favor than against them vs the leauge average? answer corretly and this money is yours" what would you say? [/ QUOTE ] Not having done any research I'd say "Well Sublime says it's true so SHIPPPPPP IT!!" Honestly, I asked you for a study, some numbers, hell give me a biased article, anything. You saying it means nothing (unless some guy is offering me 100k and I have nothing else to go on). Cody [/ QUOTE ] im saying based on watching games with them in it. could i be wrong? maybe, but i dont think i am. i would probably bet a small amount of money that i am right just based on polian being a notorious 'official coacher' and general whinebag about anything that goes against his team. [/ QUOTE ] I'm the guy that said "If the Colts are pumping noise into the Dome they should get the same penelty the Pats did". I"m not incapable of being objective but you have to give me something more then "I'm seeing them get alot of calls". Cody [/ QUOTE ] stats like that don't grow on trees so i am making an assumption that they get more calls in their favor. i ASSUME the majority of non colts fans feel the same way. i mean cmon man. you are combining a) historically great QB b) very good and well respected WR's c) a GM who has zero qualms with politicking on his teams behalf to have rules enforces more strictly (probably more strictly than warranted) and you dont think calls are more likely to swing more in their favor? this is w/o watching the games....after watching some of the calls they get downfield, i have hard time thinking they arent beneficiaries of the above combination. [/ QUOTE ] Left untrimmed and natural for Tup/q/k. I don't know what to tell you, I'm practically begging for any hard evidence and you're telling me "you feel it" or "you think it". I agree that traditionally more vets get the calls, so on that alone they might get a few. But I don't think 1 or 2 calls is what you were referencing. Cody |
