Default A8s Trapped preflop

No read:

Preflop: got trapped between some raisers but still the pot is multiway and I think I might be able to make money if the flop is nice to me.

Postflop: The pot is kind of large so I take one off. If I count A & 8s this gives me 5 outs.. odds 8.5 to 1. Pott odds are 13.5 to 1. However given all the raising .. really I need an 8 to improve, so if I have 3 outs 15 to 1. I think my call on the flop is marginal. I don't see how I could have folded preflop even though the call was marginal.

Looking forward to your thoughts.

raise preflop the first time. folding the flop would be awful. if mp2 didnt raise the turn i'd call turn+river. thankfully he made your decision 100% clear.

why would raising A8s in middle position be good here? If it's ATs or A9s, I might raise. But A8s in MP, isn't it pusing a little thin? I am currently revising the preflop concepts in SSHE, and A8s is "from late position, A9s or A8s after limpers if your opponents are loose."

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm guessing that MP3 is being considered "Late" in this hand and therefore playable. In late position with no Raise b4 its a Raise.

This is an easy isolation raise.

You might not do it against super-tighties, but you are the goods against the majority of an MPs open limping range.

Think of it this way, what hands does he open limp that you are a (big) dog to?

So A8s has an +ev advantage in mp3 position so we raise?

When u say "Isolation Raise", u mean we are attempting to close down all hands that a TAG would limp with, leaving the Loose players still in the pot? I guess I'm asking for a definition of "Isolation Raise"

Yes. An iso-raise is when you raise in the hopes of isolating the one person in the pot in front of you.
