Re: Convincing people that Derek Jeter\'s defense isn\'t, and never has
[ QUOTE ]
Jeter has no range but makes up for it with good throwing skills, adding up to being pretty average overall defensively. I know plenty of yankee fans who acknowledge this. [/ QUOTE ] WTF??? Range >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;> Throwing Arm |

Re: Convincing people that Derek Jeter\'s defense isn\'t, and never has

trust me im not defending him [/ QUOTE ] You said he is "pretty average". He's not. One of the reasons his lack of range goes so unrecognized by casual fans is that he's often not even close to balls that he should be fielding. You see a ton of ground balls to the shortstop side of 2nd go through to center and he's *not even in the TV frame* when they switch to the behind-the-plate shot, so it just looks like a clean single, instead of a routine grounder up the middle. |

trust me im not defending him [/ QUOTE ] Maybe not, but your statement is way off base. That would be like saying: "Juan Pierre doesn't have much on-base skills, but he's fast, so he's average offensively." |

He does have a sick cutoff throw... probably saves a run a year
