Re: 3/6nl HU (250bbs). river decisions...
after the flop lead, which may or may not fit into your game well(obv we can't answer this) i think it is played well. the river seems super close, specifically because we have the nut kicker and he can feasibly shove k8 or maybe q8 for value because we have a hand better than the one we actually have next to never. i think it's a fold because he will always shove better hands, and we aren't sure he will ever shove worse ones.
i think since this is a fairly unique spot a bluff should be almost completely discounted, so it comes down to how often he is value shoving a worse eight, how often he called the flop with a set or two pair, or how often he turned two pair w/ 85 or a set w/ 55. feels like a fold because even though i think the turn action is good, it makes it obvious we have showdown value and our hand sort of looks like what it is on the river(thought doesn't have to be) and if you have been fairly in line on the river this match he's probably going to give you credit for having what you have and will play accordingly. the faster he shoved the more inclined i am to fold, the more he tanks the more i feel like we might be shown k8 or a rare q8. tough spot but i think i fold. |

Re: 3/6nl HU (250bbs). river decisions...
He has to be really bad or really good for this to be a call IMO. I mean, you're not full given the turn action, and he may know this, but most ppl still aren't going to turn top pair+ into a bluff, and he doesn't have air here often.
If he's bad just snap call and get shown a worse 8. |

Re: 3/6nl HU (250bbs). river decisions...
i like your line, but hard to comment on river. were there any previous river c/rs? how did you double up? seen him make any type of spewy plays so far? stuff like that matters here

Re: 3/6nl HU (250bbs). river decisions...
I think if he took time on the river before shoving and it seemed like honest consideration for whether to call/fold/shove rather than tanking just to look weak i cant see myself not calling here. Unless he has 85 or 55 he's probably not full, though it's possible he decided to not raise a set on the flop but unlikely.
yeah idk its definetely tough. I prob call and regret it later. |
