Re: What do I need to call big resteal button vs. BB
My gut says 88+,AJ+ here, but I'd really like to see other responses. I have no idea what range to put him on. This could obviously be a straight steal, or he could be reraising with a solid holding and doesn't want to commit 1/3ish of his stack without pushing.
But obviously I would think you can discount QQ+. Matt |

Re: What do I need to call big resteal button vs. BB
I called with 77 and villain had 99. Like you say, I am generally only worried about 88-JJ. I think this is usually a medium pp or high cards, but occasionally I am way ahead of a small pp, Ax, Kx, or a low suited connector. Seems like 77 is a call, or atleast borderline.

I agree that it's borderline with 77. Although, with the chance that he is doing this with air probably makes it fine. I was thinking that 66 would be a definite no FWIW.

Re: What do I need to call big resteal button vs. BB
these spots are so tricky in 6max tourneys... I'd probably fold here, but I definitely wouldn't fault you for calling. Easy to say that after results are posted.

Re: What do I need to call big resteal button vs. BB
I think it's fine after doing the calculations. I think you are around ~53% and certainly there is enough in the pot. You know that "this type" of push comes from a player who assumes that K10+; Q10+; A9+ (but not necessarily AK); 44+ is an auto push resteal for a pot a little greater than 10% of his stack. We see this all the time. So, calling with 77 here seems to be +EV. I would struggle more with 55/66 in this spot.
Not to say this is an easy call, btw, but I think that once you put it together, it's good. Barry |

Re: What do I need to call big resteal button vs. BB
Ok...here's how I go about looking at this...lemme know if i have a fundamental error here.
It costs you 3675 to win a pot of 8495. so you need a holding that is 43% vs. his range. What is his range? Well, he's certainly not short so he's not desperate. It's unlikely he is restealing here because of his stack size and because you have no image. I'd say he has a strong, but not monster hand. He's not doing this with AA/KK because he'd only raise you, not shove. What would he shove with to pick up the 675 in the pot without a showdown? 77 - JJ, AJ+? Is that too tight? If my range is ok, then pokerstove shows that a range of 44+,A5s+,K9s+,Q9s+,JTs,ATo+,KTo+,QTo+ would be have 43.64% equity. This seems way too wide for me but then again, I don't win as much as you. Interested to hear what your range should be. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, he's got 26bbs...that is not resteal range...plus there is no reason to believe betgo is raising light here.. |
