Re: Just starting omaha, can someone critique this call?
I would have folded to his raise on the flop and hoped that he had a better hand than I did. However, there are some players who will raise you if they also have a J or have two pair or have another set. That said, sometimes you will make a mistake in folding. I think the thing missing in your post are your reads of Slicker66. You know he has made a hand and does not have AA, but you do not know how strong the made hand is.

I think the call is fine without reads. You raised preflop, so anyone with a jack is going to pop your C-bet.

Re: Just starting omaha, can someone critique this call?
There really is nothing you can do. With an ace and a king in your hand it is really tough to fold against short stackers. Especially since any Jxxx plays this the exact same way. If you and villian were 100 BB deep or more, there may be more reasonable fold possibilities.

Super standard call against a shortstacker.. He shoves with any J and some other random stuff

Easy call in this situation. If you are behind to a 66XX or J6XX hand, you have outs.
More often you will see JXXX. |
