Default Re: $5NL -- Two Pair Problems

You have a hand that plays rather badly in multiway pots. So consider raising preflop, just to make sure that only villain calls. That also makes you the aggressor and allows to steal small pots on flop. If you get more callers or someone raises again, just fold.

Raise flop, make it $.55. Villain's bet may well be a standard continuation bet so you can as well tell him that you actually have a hand that either hit on flop pretty well or can likely stand up to most hands that also caught a piece. You want villain to announce if he has a queen or better here before the game gets expensive.

As played, I think the turn is fine. You beat AK/Ax/QJs/T9 here and it's possible a smaller ace or better still calls. If villain had a set or AQ, you were screwed anyway. Had you called, the pot would have been big enough to warrant both shoving as a bluff as well as calling a shove after most cards. After all, if any reasonable bet or raise would eat up more than 1/3 of your remaining stack, you might as well shove and take advantage of any remaining fold equity.

Fold to the preflop raise.

This is not a good hand to get all in with on the turn.
