Hi/Lo is the most profitable if you are a good player imo. you have the biggest edge with the least variance.

One suggestion I've seen which I think is good is that if you intend to learn both games eventually, learn high-low first. People who mostly play high-only games, including experts, tend to be live ones at stud/8. Most players overvalue high hands in that game, some egregiously so. It might be hard for you to accept that a pair of Kings isn't a monster in stud/8. It should be easy to figure out that 643 is a piece of crap in high-only stud.

In answer to your other question, no, you don't need anything beyond Zee and SS2 for stud/8. 7CS4AP is the only high-only stud book I really endorse, although Chip's section in S/S is solid.

[/ QUOTE ]You can play Razz at PStars and Full Tilt. IMO, Razz is going to be the up-and-coming fad game and getting in on the ground floor, so-to-speak, will be very profitable in the long run. Unlike other advice, and admittedly I'm no expert, I do not suggest learning hi-lo first. If you do, you are liable to think you can play Razz, which is not the "lo" portion of 8oB, but really a very different game.

I think Razz develops the deadly patience and discipline necessary to play any other game very well, and gives you the "studview" in a pure form.

But I suggest going to a few low limit tables and playing both and seeing what you have a more natural affinity for. I was a better 8oB player than I was a Razz player, but the one bored me and the other charmed me. Figure out where the magic is for yourself and play that.

I dont know about profitability, but Razz is probably the easiest to become a winning player at imo.
