Top Pair on Flop, With Position. I Don\'t Suck.
game is $2/$4 Pokerstars. 9 handed
no-reads at table. It's pretty damn standard. UTG+2 Limps, Hero has K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and Calls from MP. Everyone behind hero folds, Hero now has position in hand. SB Calls, BB Checks, Flop is J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] SB Checks, BB Checks, UTG+2 Bets, Hero Calls, SB Raises, BB Folds, UTG+2 Calls, Hero Folds. |

Re: Top Pair on Flop, With Position. I Don\'t Suck.
(I've only played live, these comments might not apply)
I autoraise the flop almost every single time in this situation. Top pair, good kicker, bet coming from immediate right, small pot; isn't a raise standard here? I think this might also change the way the rest of the hand is played... As played, the pot is currently at 8:1. Hero has at least 3 solid outs (Kings) to get a bigger two pair, plus has outs against villain's J7 or 97, plus a backdoor flush draw and even a weak backdoor straight draw. I'm seeing the turn. you have to raise this flop. [/ QUOTE ] You guys all seem to think it's that Cut and Dry don't you.. Is this everyones thoughts on the subject? Ignore that. What about the fold? What about the hands the C/R has here? Minimum hand requirements for this play is TPTK, Or am I off? |

Re: Top Pair on Flop, With Position. I Don\'t Suck.
the sb limped into the pot and then checked the flop. At the time when were making this decision we don't know he's going to c/r. We either have to raise or fold on the flop calling doesn't protect our hand.

Your play is really bad. Raise the flop, now that you got check raised, call and reevaluate on the turn. You're closing the action getting 9:1.

calling doesn't protect our hand. [/ QUOTE ] Protect our hand? It's not a premium hand. What hands FOLD due to my Raise here to 2bets, which hands call? I guess what I am asking is.. on this scary/drawheavy board.. What's 2 bets in a big pot compared to one? How do I REALLY Protect this by raising on the Flop. You answer me that and I might take your word for it. Otherwise I think your standard cookie cutter play isn't as good as my call behind w/ 2 to act. |
