Villains stats says he's a station so I think betting turn is ok. Against an aggro TAG I prefer checking.

yeah I like the check in this spot. He'll either have a weak pair that you probably aren't going to get two more streets of value from, or he'll be going for a c/r with a good hand. Checking back means you can get paid off super light on the river, and occasionally catch a bluff.

I check behind because he could be trapping. Checking behind also makes it easy to value bet a lot of rivers successfully. You are rarely getting value from both turn + river by a worse hand.
