Whats life like at .5-.10?
Hi, I've played poker for about a year and a half now, mostly at low limits (.25-.50, .50-1 online, 1-2 at the casino). Unfortunately, now I'm a university student and broke and therefore have decided to implement the Chris Ferguson bankroll strategy. I'm starting at .5-.10 cents and unforuntately have no idea what play is like at these stakes. Any thoughts, personal experiences, general assumptions etc would be appreciated.

Honestly, just work at some min-wage job until you can get a 50nl bankroll. You'll just be frustrated if you grind 10nl.

I figured his fundamentals were okay. |

Re: Whats life like at .5-.10?
I grinded 10nl, or really 5nl with $10bi on stars for a long time. Agreed if you can afford it just skip to 25nl unless you have little experience. For me I only had $200 though and didn't want to deposit so grinded it out for a few months, not too many hands per day or it'd have been shorter. You can value bet really thin, a lot of players are loose-passive and tend to call down with any kind of the board. For the same reason almost never stone cold bluff. I learned this the hard way even though I still do it, lol. Semi-bluffing is fine.
There are a couple of TAG grinders or really loose LAGs but most of them are bad. Just avoid tilting and you should be fine. In general, don't ever fold an overpair without a great read or some obvious situation where opponent is showing strength the whole way on the flop, just get it in. You don't necessarily have to play draws as fast because they will pay you off most of the time, especially straight draws. Really it's the same except your hands are more likely to be best by the end because people can't fold 3rd pair and think you have AK. |
