Default AK gets totally lost

Villain is 28.8/25.8

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB ($3.40)
UTG ($12.70)
Hero ($12.20)
CO :#A500AF(Villain)/ ($10.85)
Button ($14.95)
SB ($6.90)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.4, CO :#A500AF(Villain)/ raises to $0.7, 3 folds, Hero raises to $1.2, CO :#A500AF(Villain)/ calls $0.50.

Flop: ($2.55) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $1.5, Villain raises to $3, Hero calls $1.50.

Turn: ($8.55) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, Villain bets $6.65 (All-In)

So I 4-bet Preflop because his 3-bet was so small, I decided I'd show strength and fold to a raise.

But then he just called and this awful flop came out.

Is my line here okay? Do you fold to this? Was there something I could have done differently to avoid trouble?

Awful flop?
This is on of the best flops you could hope for.

Just call his allin here.
He might show AA from time to time, maybe KK, but AK and AQ often enough.

This hand is played really bad. Does this guy min3bet all the time? If so, 4bet to a decent amount, say $2.5. Your min4bet sucks, since it only builds the pot and won't fold out hands (every hand has the odds to call) and won't give you any info regarding his hand.

I don't know why you think this flop is bad. It's great good. You've flopped TPTK. Which I am felting against a guy this aggressive. 3bet flop to potsize.

Maybe I just don't understand how to handle AK. I never know where I stand with it. Can someone describe how to think my way through a hand like this?

Well what do you know about CO's min3betting tendencies? That matters a lot.

Your 4-bet is way to small - make it a bit bigger - and then 3-bet AI on flop.... AA is a possibility but remember you have 1 of the A so there are only 3 combos of AA, you are going to see TT-KK a lot here, also AT+ - as far as I can see the only hands which beat you on the flop are AA and AJ. I get it AI on this flop.

There is actually only 1 AA combo, since one of the aces is on the flop and the other 1 is in your hand.

If you're getting into a 3-bet pot with AK and flop top pair, you have to go all the way with or you shouldn't have gotten into a 3-bet pot preflop to begin with.

The exception being really, really, really ugly flops, that's largely limited to JhQhKh when you don't have any heart.

And if you 4-bet, you need to do it properly because this just bloats the pot and re-opens the betting if he has a real monster.

Good point...

Pre-Flop: 3 combos
Post-Flop: 1 combo
