Default Turn value bet or value check?

Villain has taggish stats. I havent been running too well at this table. I've been having to fold a lot of UI hands after raising PF and C-betting followed by getting raised on the flop or turn. I'm also getting outdrawn quite frequently although I'm not sure if anybody has noticed enough of any this to be worth noting.

Full Tilt Poker $3/$6 Limit Hold'em - 6 players
Hand Converter Tool from DeucesCracked.com

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Hero raises</font>, MP folds, CO folds, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (6.00 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 players)</font>
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets</font>, SB folds, BB calls.

Turn: (4.00 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2 players)</font>
BB checks

What's the plan from here?

I like a valuecheck here. The pot is not that big so if he havent got any spades I don't think it's bad to give him a free card with what is max 4 outs. He may very well bluff the river after you check behind turn.

If he has in fact noticed that you've been run over this line is superior too: You avoid getting bluffraised on the turn (having to fold the best hand) and you induce even more bluffs on the river.

Not many worst hands call, because there is not many 5 or 2 in his range. On the other hand, if we are ahead he has a lot of outs to win or split.

We have to choose between b/f or value check. If he bluff often value check is prolly better otherwise b/f is ok.

I dont think this is a good spot for a value check, if we check the turn and call the river then IMO we're more likley getting value owned against a tag, Id bet the turn and pray that he folds obviously insta muck if he raises

It is either bet/fold turn or a turn check and fold to a river bet.
I like the first alternative better.

I'm last to act by the way. Are you saying check thru turn and fold to a river bet with TPTK? The only hands I'm behind to at this point are lone spades or a rare set. I think a TAG would value bet the river here with almost any pair unless an ace falls.

I think its close to bet/fold turn or check behind and fold to a river bet
If he isnt a complete donk, with what kind of hand he calls on the flop here? At minimum a weak spade, maybe a seldom set or some donkish pair/two pair.
With a bet on turn maybe he folds a weak spade like an 7 or 8 or a bad pair/two pair. But this only seems to be appropriate if he is tight enough to lay down a weak flush, if not, this play will be a -EV line.

Some metagame stuff: I think one spot to opt for the turn check over bet/fold is when you are starting to run bad. You don't want to put yourself in awkward spots that may make you worry about what you did, and then run worse. I think there is a big psychological benefit to getting to showdown once in awhile. I think if your starting to run bad and you bet/fold here, it might lead you into a spiral of some bad call downs later. Sow how bout check turn, and call river. (I know this isn't the correct play in a vacuum, but I think its right given what hero is describing.)
