Don't many people datamine the FT tables? I also think this is BS. The best short stackers have very marginal earn rates. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, itslinda is marginal. |

what the hell kinda graph is that? that could be easily made up. it's not even a PT graph. i seriously think he didn't do this 0 to 10k legit. i refuse to believe he made so much following his type of game with his 5% shortstacking [censored]. he's also not a very good shorstacker from what i've seen, he pushes any pair to Q9OS+ all day any day. and just look at the space between $0-$10k mark. you're telling me a shortstacker hasn't had one 10 buyin downswing?

If he's been playing $10/$20 PLO then it's very possible he could go on a $15k heater. The graph also shows a $10k downswing. It is not all made up anyway, the $104 tournament win mentioned here http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/chris-ferguson-challenge did happen and he's up about $3k in the last year in tournaments. [/ QUOTE ] the downswing can be manufactured as well. its not proof of anything. |

That chart resembles a Kelly betting criterion chart, where you adopt a simple betting strategy to scale your bets in proportion to your bankroll (if you are faithful in scaling your bets, the theory is that you can never go broke, as you accommodate downswings as you also accommodate upswings). Anyway, mathematically, a Kelly chart starts small, and stays small for a very long time, and then suddenly it takes off, as with this chart.

There are probably a lot of reasons why these pros are giving money to charity - foremost is probably that this is what many successful people do (philanthropy) when they have an income. There is a religious basis for it, but also some people just do it because they want to. Another reason is that it helps give poker a good, happy face.
